TapeMaster-SM Many-to-One Tape Automated Migration and Archival Solution
Introducing the newest member of the StorageHeaven family - the TapeMaster-SM (aka StackMaster) many-to-one legacy tape to current generation of LTO tape archival solution. The TapeMaster-SM device features powerful hardware and elegantly designed firmware which results in guaranteed 100% perfect migration regardless of the content of your legacy tape. With the ability to migrate/consolidate multiple lower capacity tape cartridges (source media) onto a single high density tape cartridge (stacked media).
A single stacked media utilizing a LTO-8 media with 12TB capacity or LTO-9 media with 18TB. A minimum of 120 LTO-1 source tape media with 100GB capacity stacks on to a single LTO-8 or 180 on to a single LTO-9 tape media.
Automated operation utilizes an HPE MSL2024 tape library providing up to 23 source media and a single stacked media. Source media are imported to the stacked media. The tape library can be reloaded with additional source media.
Stacked media capacity is fully utilized using the remaining capacity prior to importing the next source media.
View function lists the all source media contained on a stacked media along with capacity and barcode label and date.
Export function extracts individual source media on stacked media and records it to an individual tape media identical to original tape media.
A log file is created with time stamp, duration, barcode labels and total data imported.
High Performace Migration and Archiving
The new TapeMaster-SM migrates your tapes at extremely fast speeds efficiently and effortlessly. Simply insert your write protected masters and one or more write enabled new blank tapes, then select migrate mode and your stack of master tapes will be archived onto larger LTO tape format such as LTO-8 or LTO-9.
How many Tapes can a LTO-8 or LTO-9 Tape Cartridge Hold?
Legacy Source Tape Types (Sample): |
Amount of Source Tapes Fitting On Each LTO-8 Tape Cartridge: |
Amount of Source Tapes Fitting On Each LTO-9 Tape Cartridge: |
---|---|---|
LTO-1 | 120 | 180 |
LTO-2 | 60 | 90 |
LTO-3 | 30 | 45 |
LTO-4 | 15 | 22 |
LTO-5 | 8 | 12 |
LTO-6 | 4 | 7 |
LTO-7 | 2 | 3 |
Our system will automatically perform two levels of verification during the copy process to ensure your tapes are 100% accurate. First, when data is written to the target tape it is read and immediately verified by the target tape drive. This allows the target drive to immediately write a second copy of any data that fails the verify process.
Plug and Play Operation
The TapeMaster-SM rapidly and reliably migrates tapes. As a "plug-n-play" solution, simply plug in and select "Clone" from the built-in LCD display. The TapeMaster-SM clones tapes on a block-by-block basis, meaning it can duplicate any tape (i.e. PC, WinTel, Oracle, HP, LINUX/UNIX™, Apple®, IBM® and minis and mainframes, and more) with 100% accuracy every time. It doesn't matter what kind of data is on the original source, the TapeMaster's job is to make sure all the data is transferred accurately from the source to each stacked target tape.
Universal Power Supply
The new TapeMaster-SM features an auto switching, 115V - 230V universal power supply that can be used anywhere worldwide. Because the power supply is built in, you can use it in a rack (rack-mountable configurations) or on a tabletop without having to worry about an external power brick.
Applications For Various Markets
Just a few of the most popular uses and users of the TapeMaster duplication and migration systems include content archive and distribution for Digital Cinema, Government Agencies (i.e. Navy, Army, Air Force, Aerospace), Medical Imaging (i.e. EMR, PACS, DICOM), Information Technology, Digital Forensics, Mining, Video Production, Oil/Gas Exploration and Broadcast Industry.
